Umang Das, Chief Mentor, Viom Networks and Director General, Tower and Infrastructure Providers' Association(TAIPA) - (1844-1922) was a civil engineer in the Public Works Department of British India. ==Biography== Himmatlal was born into a Brahmin family of Ahmedabad, Gujarat belonging to Nagar sub caste.〔(Himatlal Dhirajram Rao Bahadur 1844-1922 )〕〔Elisabrijana Sarjaka Raya Bahadura Himmatalala Dhirajarama = The man behind the bridge by Vandanā Enjiniyara〕 His father, Dhirajram, died when Himmatlal was around the age of 10.〔 Although his family struggled with poverty, he received financial assistance that helped him complete his studies. He went on to receive an engineering degree from Pune.〔(Times of India - Himmatlal, Engineer )〕 Himmatlal worked as an engineer in the Public Works department for many years. In 1892 he was credited with the rebuilding of the Ellis Bridge of Ahmedabad, which was originally built in 1869.〔〔(Ahmedabad Mirror )〕 Himmatlal reconstructed the bridge at a cost of only 407,000 rupees, significantly less than the projected budget of 500,000 rupees.〔 This led the government to suspect he was using poor quality building materials.
